Nostalgia.
We all see the memes and the TikTok's; our childhood. And we continue to love those childhood things, the cartoons, movies, foods, comforts. We turn back to those childhood comforts.
I've said it a million times, we were promised the world, we were independent and then that dream crumbled. And we go back to the childhood comforts.
We go back to those as if it meant safety, but we rarely felt safe, our trust is damaged and we were taught to only rely on ourselves so why on earth would we find anything comforting from our childhood?

The truth is, we survived. And we survived because of those comforts. We aren't just millennials, we are survivors. And now we are tired with so much healing to do. But today let's just honor our survivorship status.

Dear reader,

I am proud of you. I am proud that despite the hard things you are here today. I am proud that despite the global and national turmoil we have never known a day without, you are still here. I am proud of millennial parents with the courage to face parenting struggles with a different approach, a gentler and more responsible approach. I am proud of you if you made it to that CEO, girl boss position. And I am proud of you if you gave it up. I'm proud of you if you never really made it. I am proud of you with the roof over your head, no matter the size, permanence, value. I am proud of you who went to college AND those who didn't. I am proud.

Lets look at unconditional pride. Like unconditional love, let's recognize that no matter what we did or where we got, we are making active efforts to find a better world. Sometimes we feel like we are the only ones trying at all with something other than verbal criticism and verbal warfare. We are on the ground making the difference every day. And. It's. Hard.

Today let's just recognize we not only survived but we are proving the world can be better with every day actions, every hour actions, and every minute actions. And we are okay. We are proud of ourselves and our peers. Shout it out to the rest of the world that life can be hard and you can make it at the same time. Both can be true. Shout it out, all we really need is love; love for ourselves and love for our neighbors. It will all work out, we are walking proof.

Cheers to the millennials.
